Path of Exile Item Upgrades
The performance of a variety of Path of Exile items can be improved by upgrading them. They can be a fantastic source of extra damage or more AD or even more affixes.
Rare-grade equipment can be superior to modernized Common or Magic gear due to their high demands.
Armor
Armor upgrades can be applied to both armor and weapon items. They increase the effectiveness of the item that they're connected to. Upgrades to armor can be found in the world of the game and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at bonfires. Alternatively, they can also be salvaged from items with upgrade components within them by using an expert or greater salvage kit.
The amount of damage an armored item or weapon will absorb is contingent on the level of its upgrades. The damage absorption of a piece armor will increase as it is upgraded to the maximum upgrade level. However, it's important be aware that this upgrade will raise its weight, requiring it to be heavier than before.
There are many different kinds of armor upgrades that are available in the game. Each has a different impact. For instance, some upgrades give the armor a certain number of additional health points, while others will make it lighter and stronger. The kind of armor upgrade an item will receive will be identified by the name of the upgrade, as shown in the table below.

Some of the upgrades also require magic or a hybrid technology and magic, which are identified by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table below. Additionally, some upgrades require a fee to use, and are shown by a "Charges" entry in the table below. The charges for these upgrades change every day or never expire, dependent on the upgrade.
Iron Ore is the cheapest method to upgrade your armor. You can find it by exploring and looting small chests. Titanium is more costly, but can be found at the smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, like the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be applied to armor pieces of the highest level. These upgrades can give players a significant increases in stats and are definitely worth the investment.
Upgrading a piece of armor to the highest upgrade level will greatly increase its defense values however, the user must be aware that putting more weight on it can drastically decrease its agility and speed. It is not recommended to upgrade armor above +9. The boost in defense generally isn't worth the weight and power expenses of the upgrades.
item upgrade give players to enhance certain aspects of their weapon. Upgrades can improve the accuracy of a rifle, or the damage that shotgun shells cause. Certain firearms also have enhancements that enhance their intrinsic characteristics. Frictionless materials (improves stability, and reduces the possibility of overheating), and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's speed for greater damage) are two examples.
The majority of weapon upgrades require a whetblade, one of three Power Dices and a different amount Minerals and Erons. These are obtained through either finishing side quests, killing a certain amount of monsters or bosses or from the Weapon Upgrade NPC located in Central Flarine.
To upgrade a weapon, equipment set piece or Whetblade you need to visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee of a certain amount of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the higher the number of bars are required to complete it. If you have multiple upgrade materials the cost of upgrading will be less.
In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade your weapon and sets has changed a bit. Prior to Chapter 2 Season 5, you could upgrade your weapon and equipment by paying a specific amount of Bars. You could continue doing this until you reached the max upgrade level of the equipment or weapon, after which upgrades would reset.
You can still do this, but the process is based on RNG and low on agency. You're better off buying gear that has minimal upgrade levels and high base scores and stat distributions. These items have a higher chance of giving you the most prestigious tier of blessings and perks.
The majority of players will make the most of upgrades to weapons they are most likely to use to help them level up faster. Players should also upgrade the weapons that their teammates use to boost their strength. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R to increase its utility when paired with biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels can be used to boost the stats of a character or to provide additional effects in armor and weapons. Jewelry crafting is a method of making them, in which you combine gemstones with specific reagents on a table. The higher the level of the gemstone, the better the secondary effect. These reagents can be obtained around the world from Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and, sometimes, by salvaging Legendary gear. You can also buy them from The Jeweler in exchange for Scattered Prisms and gold.
The quality of a diamond can be improved upon by the Jeweler, in stages that vary from Crude to Royal. The stat boosts will vary according to the tier that the jewel is in when it's inserted into weapons, jewelry, or equipment.
The Jeweler is able to create all tiers of gems, with the exception of rare and legendary ones, which you must attain certain levels to gain. Jewels can be replaced with another one without damaging the original. However it is only possible to replace a jewel in a piece of equipment once.
Utilizing more jewels in a move will make it feel smoother and is typically done to enhance the aesthetics of the movement. Apart from improving performance, the jewels create a surface that is harder than metal, so repeated friction from pivots won't cause damage as easily.
In addition to the upgrades mentioned above, the player can also obtain glyphs for their shields and weapons from a Glyphmaster. These are a small perk and are able to be swapped easily but aren't guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs can be upgraded as jewelry, by visiting the Jeweler for gold and scattered Crystal. Glyphs can also be removed, which returns them to the inventory. Other upgrade components such as aegis or traits cannot be swapped, and can only be found through an upgrade extractor or salvaging using Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage tool.
Trinkets
Trinkets are a great way to provide your hero with many small, but beneficial benefits. They are available in the starter area as loot or as personal story rewards. They are also available from vendors as well as through doing road interaction. They may also be crafted by jewelers and later found or purchased at the Trading Post.
The first trinket a player can unlock is the cloak, which gives an unimportant but beneficial boost to speed of movement and evasion. After that, they can get amulets, rings, and necklaces in a similar way to how a player acquires armor and weapons. Each piece of equipment comes with one upgrade slot that can accommodate either a universal or jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades are smaller and can be used on any piece of equipment. Jewels are not upgradeable or replaced, and can only be used with certain trinkets.
These trinkets also grant additional buffs and skills that are active whenever the hero is not fighting. This allows a hero to be more efficient while inactive. It also helps compensate for the absence of strong team or talent tree slots which are usually filled by the hero's best stats.
A good rule of thumb for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you will not replace in the near future, then any items with desirable stats that are less important than the iLevel of the item to be upgraded. This is true especially if you're looking to upgrade several statistics on an item. It is best to upgrade just one crucial stat instead of two subpar ones.
Jungle players will often upgrade their yellow trinket to a red one at the beginning of the game. Mid and top players on the other hand they will select either a pink or green ward, based on the game's matchup. These choices will have a major impact on the hero's map control abilities.
In addition to the items mentioned above, players can also find other trinkets in the form of rewards and trophies throughout the game. These can be obtained through completing certain milestones within the story. For instance, completing the main quest for a chapter or beating an opponent. You can check them out by clicking on the achievement in the reward section of the hero's menu.
